The aim of the meeting was to present the potential of Silesian companies and academic circles for further cooperation within the Silesian Hydrogen Valley Association. Silesia, using the instruments of the Polish Order and the National Recovery Plan, has a unique opportunity to become a key region in the industrial revolution, which aims to transform the current economic model into a low-emission economy.

The meeting was attended by: Silesian Governor Jarosław Wieczorek, Silesian parliamentarians, representatives of the world of science and business and the Industrial Development Agency S.A.

IDA JSC is actively involved in promoting solutions for the use of hydrogen in Polish enterprises. In the IDA Capital Group there are companies that manufacture emission-free means of transport, as well as produce a range of equipment that can be used in the entire supply chain of the hydrogen economy. IDA JSC is interested in business investments in the development of innovative technologies of energy generation, storage and utilization.

Cezariusz Lesisz, President of the Industrial Development Agency S.A. presented the possibilities of financing the transformation of Silesia towards innovative projects that are offered by the Polish Order and the National Reconstruction Plan. He expressed hope that the Silesian universities, research institutions and, above all, Silesian companies would apply for funds for creating a hydrogen ecosystem.

The host of the meeting, Silesian Governor Jarosław Wieczorek, emphasised the importance that Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki attaches to Silesia and how important the transformation of the coal sector is for the modernisation of the entire Polish economy.

According to the National Recovery Plan, at least five hydrogen valleys will be created in Poland. Paweł Kolczyński, Vice-President of Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu S.A., emphasised the role which the IDA JSC plays in the energy transformation of Polish industry.

- It is important to provide as much green energy as possible to investors in the area of modern technologies, whom we want to encourage to locate businesses in Upper Silesia - said Kolczyński.

The first letter of intent to which the Agency is a signatory was signed on 18th May this year. It assumes the establishment of the Podkarpacie Hydrogen Valley in Rzeszów. The Industrial Development Agency is also actively participating in the establishment of the Lower Silesian Hydrogen Valley.

Silesia will be the seat of the next Hydrogen Valley. It will make it possible to use its potential in the field of modern technologies, to build a place where fuel cells, hydrogen buses will be produced and low-emission hydrogen will be used on a large scale as a source of clean energy.

Ireneusz Zyska, Government Plenipotentiary for Renewable Energy Sources, discussed the benefits for Silesia of replacing public transport with low-emission transport. He emphasised the benefits of transforming the many sources of energy production present in Silesia into hydrogen-based ones. Silesia is a Polish automotive or railway industry hub. Minister Zyska expressed the hope that the existing ecosystem of the automotive industry would switch to the tracks of modern means of transport based on hydrogen.
