Minister of Industry Marzena Czarnecka and Minister Robert Kropiwnicki ceremonially re-launching the operations of Huta Częstochowa

On Monday 20 January, production at Huta Częstochowa was ceremoniously resumed shortly after 8:00 am. This event is a significant step in restoring the smelter to full operational capacity.

Huta Częstochowa is a key and strategic plant for the Polish metal industry, because without the heavy plates produced at the smelter, both the defence and shipbuilding industries, as well as the developing energy industry, will have a much more difficult time. - said Robert Kropiwnicki, Secretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets.

We are very happy to come to the steelworks, which is resuming operations after 14 months. It is a very important asset for the Polish economy and we cannot let it go. We would like to thank Industrial Development Agency JSC and President Michał Dąbrowski for the funding that contributed to this success,’ said Marzena Czarnecka, Minister of Industry.

  • Tomasz Ślęzak - President of the Management Board of Węglokoks S.A.

Huta Częstochowa is one of the largest and most important steel producers in Poland and the main supplier of heavy plate for heavy industry. The plant specialises in production for the energy, construction and defence sectors.
